Host a House Party
The most effective and meaningful conversations about the freedom to marry are happening in living rooms, kitchens and backyard patios all across California at get-togethers called house parties. You don't necessarily need a house, and it doesn't have to be a fancy party.
A house party is any gathering of people who've come together for food, drink, and friendship, and to learn more about Let California Ring and talk about why the freedom to marry is important to them.
House parties play a vital role in educating and motivating more people to get involved and invested in making California a place where each of us has the freedom to marry the person we love, and where equality isn’t up for a popular vote.
It’s especially helpful to invite people who aren’t sure how they feel, or who may not be 100% with us on marriage. David Binder’s post-election research showed that people who had conversations with friends, family and co-workers were far more likely to vote NO on Prop 8. Hosting these conversations is critical! Even if not everyone you had in mind shows up, your invitation will get them thinking.
