Ever since I was a little girl I imagined getting married... what little girl doesn't?

When I finally came out to my friends and family I can remember my best friend telling me I was throwing my life away and would never be able to get married... but, why not?

I've been with my girlfriend for three years, and we have been talking about marriage. Of course at this point it is not legal, but it would be awesome to have that certificate, to have the same rights, to no longer be judged. Who says you can't love someone of the same sex? My girlfriend knows everything about me... physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually... so why can't I have the same rights as other people? Everyone should have the right to love who they love… no questions asked. One day this will surpass and California will allow gay marriage...
